Objective

The MOONMARS Workshop was a youth event that evaluated the commonalities between current MOON and MARS Exploration plans. Students and young space professionals, assisted by experts, generated a unified youth vision on the benefits of a combined MoonMars strategy. It also provided the exciting opportunity for youth from around the world to meet, work together and learn from experts in the field.

Output

The workshop comprised of 16 youth delegates and 6 experts. Prior to the workshop delegates researched, discussed and summarised current Moon and Mars plans in a period of online work. During the workshop the delegates then evaluated these plans in 3 working groups, each concerned with a key-area of Moon and Mars exploration. These working groups were:

  • Design of a Colony
  • Enabling Technologies
  • Resource Utilisation

Other Activities included:

  • Lectures by Invited Speakers
  • Plenary Sessions

Abstracts covering all three topics were submitted to and accepted by the IAF. Papers for these presentations were written and submitted before the IAC but were rewritten during the workshop weekend. The delegates then had the opportunity to present their work at the IAC session.
